You probably know very well what the suspension in your Ford Super Duty does. It helps keep your steering stable and your pickup under control. The result: more comfortable handling, not to mention a smoother ride. How do suspensions deliver that? By limiting the impact of bad roads and worse terrain on both the truck and you and your passengers.

Several components factor into that. For one, your chassis. It supports the vehicle's cabin. Secondly, the springs. They support its weight and reduce the effects of driving over uneven surfaces. Third, the anti-sway bar. It helps your wheels move the way they need to, improving stability. Finally, shock absorbers (shocks) and strut assemblies (struts). They do a few things. First, they regulate spring and suspension movement, which keeps handling and braking more consistent. Second, they minimize body roll. Third, they help your wheels align and your tires grip the road more firmly.
